Dobson’s expanding Stagecraft program has been a point of pride for Stage Manager, Grant Hughes, during his tenure at Dobson. Students involved in Stagecraft experience the theatre production process through hands-on experience in a professional venue. Dobson’s Stagecraft students have the opportunity to work in our auditorium serving community dance concerts, prestigious author events, and school-based plays, musicals, and concerts.

Mr. Hughes believes that students should have access to the full capacities of technical theatre through education as it prepares them for future careers. He wants to ensure that students aren’t held back by low expectations or the assumption that “its only high school theatre.”

Students enrolled in Dobson’s Stagecraft class will enter into a 4-year program that focuses on fundamental terms and technologies, design strategies, leadership styles, and effective work habits.
